I’m a bit late for Dungeon Solvers’ 6-month update, but better late than never I say! On the 18th we celebrated 2-years since my relaunch!
I will forever be overwhelmed with the success I’ve had and the opportunities I’ve been granted by writing this blog. Seriously, thank you to everyone who reads and shares my articles!
This was the first chunk of time where the site’s traffic took a dip and quite a substantial one as you can see in the picture above. While it was a bit demoralizing I still can’t complain because even at my worst month the site was still pulling in over 2300 visitors per day.
It was also reassuring to see that it was mostly due to an algorithm tweak by Google, and of course that we’re trending upwards again!
It was also a “good” experience to learn how to react to a loss in traffic. Giving up when your traffic is trending downward is the opposite of what you need to do. You need to keep releasing content even when times are relatively bad.
It was also a great opportunity for me to reassure myself that I’m writing because I enjoy it and not because I’m obligated to because of search engine traffic or readership.
Now For the Good News
You may have noticed that I’ve not been doing a good job of sticking to me Monday & Friday article schedule. Part of that is due to my job and general burnout that comes with it, but the primary reason for the reduced schedule is that I’m writing for Johnn Four’s soon-to-be-released GMing course!
I was approached to write the D&D 5e portion of the course which I am in the process of right now. It’s a lot of work, but I’ve been having a blast with it! Plus, I’m excited to finally get a taste of what professional writing entails and to finally start my portfolio.
I’m sure I’ll have some more updates regarding the course as we get closer to its release. Stay tuned for more information!
Also, I’d like to say thanks again to Leon for mentoring me regarding the ins-and-outs of writers’ contracts because I had no idea what I was doing.
With that said and done, I’m expecting to change the schedule to officially be a single post per week on Mondays. Every-other-week will continue to be a Monster Monday article. Some weeks may feature the odd Friday post or I may shift a post from Monday to Friday depending on my schedule.
That being said, if you have ever wanted to have an article featured on Dungeon Solvers or just need a place to post an article feel free to reach out to me regarding guest posts. I’ve published two great ones over the past few months by Applefritter and Loresmyth so be sure to check those out if you’re interested!
Regardless, I’m excited I’ve made it this far and cannot wait to see where everything is in another 6 months!
Stay safe everyone,
